On the occasion Geeta Jayanti, Shri Ram Vidhyapeeth organizes mass marriages since 1992. This is done to help the underprivileged families and give them financial aid to see their daughter happily married. If one wishes to see the practical application of Lord Krishna’s preaching about selfless Karma, the mass marriage is one such example.

The importance of this annual practice can be seen from the fact that every year the number of applicants who wish to get their daughters and sons married at this occasion, is increasing by leaps and bounds. This is also a good way of abolishing dowry system.

In the mass marriages both the boys family and girls family have to give their consent to the marriage.

Then applications are invited from the parents of the eligible boys and girls. The applications are verified by the village Sarpanch or the Corporator of that area. Then it is verified by the district administration. Once the application is verified the parents of boy and girl are called.

At the time of the marriage separate marriage fires are built for pairs. The marriage is solemnized by the Vedic Pandit through the recitation of Vedas. Every pair is free to chose their marriage rituals according to their religion.
